Leah Moniz Takes Top Honors in the MHC Adult Medal at

the Head of the Bay Classic

BUZZARDS BAY, MA - July 28th, 2016 - Leah Moniz rode her way to the top spot of the MHC Adult Medal at Head of the Bay week I.

Leah rode the massive 18.3 hand horse, Conspicuous (also known as Conan) owned by Emma Fletcher to the win. Since the start of 2016 Leah has been doing a partial lease on Conan after taking a six-year break from riding.

When reflecting back on her course she said, "I went into the ring confident, but I was cautious of my surroundings as my horse gets easily spooked and distracted at the tents and other things outside the ring." Moniz's biggest challenge is just the sheer size of the Argentinean Warmblood. "Conan has such a large stride and is so massive that managing the shorter lines is difficult to appear seamless," said Moniz.

This will be her first time attending the MHC Days of Champions Finals. While Leah is a beautiful rider and certainly capable of winning the final, she said her goal for this fall is, "to have a solid round at MHC Finals and feel happy with the way I ride the course."

Leah credits her confidence to come back into the ring to the trainers at Grazing Fields. "I just got back into riding in December after six years of a break. I really credit Kathy Fletcher and Conan for helping me build back my confidence in the show ring and my riding in general."

We are excited to have you back in the ring and look forward to watching Lead and Conan at the MHC Adult Medal Finals on Friday September 30th.
