Massachusetts Horseman’s Council (MHC)
Horsemanship Assistance Fund
The Massachusetts Horseman’s Council has announced the initiation of a new program to help riders deserving of financial assistance to learn and grow with horses.
Named the
Massachusetts Horseman’s Council Horsemanship Assistance Fund
and jointly sponsored by the:
Massachusetts Horseman’s Council
&
The MHC Days of Champions
the Fund’s goal is to help deserving riders by awarding a funds voucher for riding lessons or attendance of a Massachusetts horsemanship camp or program.
Recognizing that there are many young riders who display a true desire to learn about horses and a willingness to work hard to that end, the MHC in conjunction with Days of Champions have decided to offer vouchers to applicants that are nominated by their Massachusetts Licensed Instructor or Qualified Director of a Horsemanship or Camp Program.
Vouchers will be awarded up to the amount of $500.00 per recipient per voucher, as proscribed by the Massachusetts Tax laws.
The program is open to juniors under the age of 18 as defined by MHC rules. The applicant rider must demonstrate in writing a letter to the MHC, why they are deserving of financial assistance in order to start or continue horseback riding.
Applicants must be residents of Massachusetts or riding at a stable located in Massachusetts with a MASS licensed Instructor or a Qualified Director of a Horsemanship or Camp Program.
To apply for the funding, a nomination application form, which can be downloaded from the MHC web site, or by mail from the MHC. All applications must be submitted by a MA Licensed Riding Instructor or Qualified Director of a Horsemanship or Camp Program.
A letter explaining why the candidate should be considered for this fund and a description of how the Assistance Funds would be applied must accompany the application. All MHC Horsemanship Assistance Fund applications will be kept in strict confidence, reviewed by the MHC Horsemanship Assistance Fund Committee and voted on by the MHC Board prior to the awarding of the program funds vouchers.
